Wilhelmi Shuts Down Willmar Rails

MARSHALL, Minn. Brandon Wilhelmi (5-0) threw his second consecutive shutout on Tuesday night, leading the A's to a 17-0 win over the Willmar Rails in 7 innings. Wilhelmi gave up just 3 hits in the win while striking out 7 Rail batters.

Wilhelmi has now thrown 40 1/3 innings in 2012, giving up just 3 runs while sporting a pristine 0.67 ERA.

Ben Korger had a strong night in the leadoff spot, driving in 4 runs and scoring 3 times. Korger also stole his team leading 17th and 18th bases.

Cody Curry got the scoring started in the first inning with a 2 run homer to left, his third of the season.

Wilhelmi helped his own cause at the plate, driving in 3 runs of his own.

The A's will host the Minneota Mudhens on Wednesday night for the annual Whopper Night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
