PIPESTONE, Minn. – The Marshall A’s dropped a non-league game to the Pipestone A’s on Friday, June 24, by a score of 10-4.
Pipestone scored five runs in the first and two more in the second to build a 7-1 advantage.
Marshall scored its first run of the game on an RBI ground out by Dillon Loft to plate Zach Olsen in the second inning.
Owen Kesteloot would collect his first career A’s hit in the third inning and would later score on a ground out by Seth Resnick. Marshall would score another run in the frame on an RBI single by Connor Neubeck to score Chase Douglas.
Marshall and Pipestone both finished the game with nine hits. Loft and Kesteloot led the way for the A’s with two hits each, while Neubeck, Olsen, Logan Terfehr, Josh Kraft and Ryan Schwagel each had one hit.
Jake Eben started on the mound for Marshall and tossed 5 2/3 innings and allowed eight earned runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts and six walks. Zach Olson tossed the final 2 1/3 innings and allowed just one hit with four strikeouts.
Marshall, now 11-4 overall, have two home games this week at Legion Field. On Wednesday, June 28, the A’s host the Milroy Yankees at 7:30, while on Friday night, the A’s welcome Raymond for ‘Hall of Fame’ Night with first pitch at 7:30. Prior to the game, Russ Sanow will be inducted into the Marshall Baseball Hall of Fame.
